New Britain, Conn- Kevin Little poured in a game high 19 points Sunday evening as the University of Maine men’s basketball team got past Central Connecticut State 81-74 at William H. Detrick Gymnasium.
Maine shot 56 percent from the floor and was able to build a 9 point haltime lead. Maine would end up 48 percent from the floor in the ballgame as CCSU never got closer than 5 points in the second half as the Bears won their second consecutive game.
Maine was also very strong on the glass
hauling down 47 rebounds including 12 on the offensive end giving them second and third opportunities. Ilija Stojiljkovic had 11 of those boards and Ryan Bernstein dished out 4 assists to help the Maine cause. The Black Bears (2-3) also hit 7 three pointers to help put the Blue Devils away.
CCSU (0-5) were led by Malcolm McMillan who had 15 points and Khalen Cumberlander also chipped in 15 with 4 assists. Brandon Peel had 8 rebounds.
Maine will return home to face Army next Wednesday, December 2nd at 7 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
