November 19, 2019

Matt Grzelcyk and David Pastrnak each scored a pair of goals on Tuesday night and the Boston Bruins scored three third period goals to pull away from the New Jersey Devils 5-1 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Grzelyck and Pastrnak quickly ended a scoreless tie late in the first period. Grzelyck scored from the left faceoff circle that hit the far post and found the net past New Jersey goalie Mackenzie Blackwood at 14:26. Just 14 seconds later a slap shot from the left circle by Pastrnak also went in to make it 2-0, in what turned out to be the game winner. Blake Coleman got the only goal for New Jersey (7-9-4) cutting the lead to 2-1 on a backhander from the slot that eluded Boston goalie Tuuka Rask at the 18:11 mark of the second period.

Boston put it away in the third when Pastrnak got his NHL leading 19th goal on a bomb of a slap shot from the left point on the powerplay at 3:19. Grzelcyk got his second of the night 7:14 later. It was the first two goal game of his career for Grzelcyk and his first two goals of this season. Connor Clifton added an unassisted goal at 13:42 to extend the Bruins points streak to five games (2-0-3).

Rask made 25 saves to help Boston improve their record to 13-3-5. Brad Marchand added three assists, while David Krejci also had two. Blackwood finished with 23 saves for New Jersey who had a two game win streak snapped. The Bruins are now 8-1 in their last nine games against New Jersey, including four straight wins at the Prudential Center. Boston will host Buffalo on Thursday night at TD Garden.
