December 18, 2019

Kristina Kelly, the standout soccer player from Camden Hills Regional High School, received a big award last week. The official announcement came Tuesday afternoon that Kelly had been named National Player of the Year by United States Soccer Coaches Organization located in Kansas City.

Kelly who helped the Windjammers to four straight state titles has also earned three All-American awards as well along the way. Kelly is believed to be the first player to win such a National award from Maine in any sport. She finished with 159 goals and 58 assists for a team that went 70-1-1 over her high school career. The numbers could of been more but Kelly was instructed by Coach Meredith Messer not to score more than three goals in any regular season game. Kelly plans to continue her education and soccer career at Central Connecticut State next fall.
