DOVER-FOXCROFT- Keegan Gentle scored 15 third quarter points to lead Houlton to a 63-49 win over Foxcroft Academy in a class B boys basketball game on Saturday afternoon.
Houlton went on a 9-0 run after the Ponies went ahead 3-0 on a Caleb Crocker three pointer. The Ponies followed that up with an 11-1 run. Foxcroft took a 16-13 lead on a Lucas Ames basket to beat the first quarter buzzer.

Foxcroft scored the first five points of the second quarter to take a 21-13 lead. After a timeout, the Shires went on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 21-18. Later in the quarter, the Shires went on a 6-0 run to take a 27-26 lead. Crocker made 2 three pointers late in the half as the Ponies took a 32-29 lead into intermission. Crocker had 17 (5 three pointers) first half points.
Gentle and the Shires came out red hot in the second half. Houlton went on a 13-1 run to start the half and outscored Foxcroft 18-8 to took a 48-38 advantage into the final quarter.
The Shires had six different point scorers in the final quarter as they secured their 6th win of the season and 301st of coach Tim Brewer’s career.
Crocker scored a game high 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Ponies. Ames and Logan Martin added seven points each. Jed Dean had six points (2 three pointers). Sam Harmon-Weeks, Jacob Raynes, and Ethan Doore had five, two, and one points respectively. Foxcroft (2-6) will host Orono on Wednesday.
Keegan Gentle recorded 20 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists to lead the Shires. Jaron Gentle also finished in double figures with 13 points. Caleb Solomon had nine points (all in the first half). Cameron Callnan had seven points and seven rebounds. Drew Foley, Hunter Sennett, and Isaiah Gentle had six, five, and three points respectively. Houlton (6-3) will play at Stearns at Wednesday night.
Houlton out rebounded Foxcroft 36-26. The Shires shot 12-25 from the free throw line, while the Ponies shot 7-18.
