Greenville girls basketball use big second half run to defeat PCHS: Over $3000 raised for Aliza Jean Family Cancer Foundation

GUILFORD– A big second half run propelled the Greenville Lakers to a 35-19 win over the Piscataquis Community High School Pirates in a girls basketball game on Friday night in Guilford.

The Lakers went on a 5-0 first quarter run to take an early 7-3 lead. Greenville had a 10-6 lead after the first eight minutes. The second quarter had only a total of 10 points as the Lakers held a 16-10 intermission lead.

PCHS scored the first four points of the second half. It was all Lakers from that point. Greenville went on a 15-0 run, including scoring the final 12 points of the third quarter to take a 28-14 advantage going into the final quarter.

Olivia Riitano led the Pirates with eight points and seven rebounds. Elizabeth Kendall had six points (2 three pointers). Meagan Lemieux added three points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Hailee Hartford chipped in with two points. PCHS (4-6) will host Penquis on Tuesday night.

Bianca Breton led the Lakers with 12 points (4 three pointers), five rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Halle Pelletier recorded nine points, nine rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocks. Jessica Pomerleau had eight points (six in the second half). Morgan Noyes added four points, four rebounds, and four steals. Aleya Pelletier chipped in with two points. Greenville (9-1) will host Schenck next Friday.

The highlight of the night was the $3063.02 raised for the Aliza Jean Family Cancer Foundation in their seventh annual fill the gym night at Guilford.
