I scored a perfect week in the picks on the weekend including another Maine sweep this time over Princeton. Maine swings back into Hockey East play this weekend for a home and home series with border rival UNH. I will also key in on other conference games with one from the ECAC and also a matchup from the WCHA.
Last week’s record: 4-0-0 Season record 20-7-5
Last week’s results:
Friday, November 27th
Maine 5, Princeton 3 correct pick
Quinnipiac 4, UMass-Amherst 1 correct pick
Saturday, November 28th
Maine 3, Princeton 2 (ot) correct pick
Providence 4, Yale 3 correct pick
This week’s games and picks:
Friday, December 4th
UNH (4-6-3, 1-1-3 Hockey East) at Maine (4-8-3, 2-4-0 Hockey East)
The Black Bears are enjoying the home stand having won 4 games in a row and have a 4-1 record at the Alfond so far on the season. New Hampshire is coming off a 4-3 loss on the road last Tuesday at RPI before topping Bentley 5-4 at home on Saturday.
The pick- The Black Bears will face much more elite competition this weekend with this series against the Wildcats but I like how much resiliency this team has showed after a really tough start. Maine makes it 5 straight, Maine 2, UNH 1
#8 Harvard (6-1-1, 4-1-1 ECAC) at Union (4-6-3, 1-5-0 ECAC)
The eighth ranked Crimson take a trip into Union for a huge weekend matchup. Harvard comes in with a 4-1 win over #18 Notre Dame and a 4-0 shutout over RPI last weekend in the Shillelagh Tournament. The Dutchmen are off to a sluggish start but did shutout the #13 Merrimack Warriors on the road Saturday.
The pick- I expect a slight upset in this one as Union hasn’t played up to their ability so far but look for them to pull this one in front of their home crowd, Union 4, Harvard 3
Saturday, December 5th
Maine at UNH
The scene shifts to the Whittemore Center in Durham, NH for the second game of the series.
The pick- Maine comes in red hot and playing some inspiring hockey but the winning streak comes to an end on the road, UNH 4, Maine 3
Alaska-Anchorage (6-6-2,3-4-1 WCHA) at #17 Michigan Tech (9-4-1, 8-4-0 WCHA)
This is matchup of two teams that seem to be headed in opposite directions. The Seawolves from Alaska are coming off a 2-0 and 6-2 loss on the road last weekend at Minnesota State while the Huskies from Michigan Tech swept a pair of games 4-1 and 3-1 at Alaska-Fairbanks.
The pick- The Huskies continue their surprising strong start, Michigan Tech 5, Alaska-Anchorage 1
