DEXTER- Peyton Grant needed 14 points to reach 1000 points coming into the Dexter Tigers game against Penquis on Monday night. Grant reached that mark when she drilled a three pointer with 1:11 left in the first half. Grant finished with 18 points, all in the first half in a 42-8 Tigers win at Ed Guiski Gymnasium.

The Tigers started the game on a 15-0 run, including outscoring the Patriots 13-0 in the first quarter. Grant made 3 three pointers in the first eight minutes.
Grant made a two point shot and two free throws in the early minutes of the second quarter. That set up her milestone shot with 71 seconds remaining in the half.
The Tigers defense allowed only two (one each half) field goals. Grant also had four assists and three steals to go along with her game high 18 points.
Grant is the seventh Dexter high school student/athlete and fifth girls basketball player to reach the 1000 point mark. She joins Shawna McKenney, Ashley Ames, Mallory Ames, Megan Peach, Alex Guiski, and Travis Patterson.
Freshman Jozylnn Paige came off the bench to record 10 points, four steals, and three rebounds for the Tigers. Cloe Mountain added seven points, three rebounds, and three steals. Elizabeth Kinney contributed six points, six steals, and two assists. Cheyenne Beem had one point, 10 rebounds, six steals, and three assists. Dexter (10-4) will take a six game winning streak into Wednesday’s game against 14-1 Greenville. Game time is scheduled for 6 PM.
Sydney Fowles led the Patriots with five points and five rebounds. Abi Conlogue and Lauren Bolstridge added two and one points respectively. Penquis (3-12) will host Stearns on Wednesday night.
