BANGOR- The Shead Tigerettes scored the final five points of the game and defeated Wisdom 39-34 on Monday afternoon in a Class D girls quarterfinal contest at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Pioneers battled back from a 15 point deficit and evened the score on a Lilly Roy three pointer with 3:40 remaining. Cassidee Lawrence made two free throws with 3:27 remaining and followed that up with a bucket to give Shead a four point lead.
The biggest lead for the Tigerettes came late in the first half when they went on a 19-0 run and took a 17 (26-9) point advantage. Wisdom followed that up by outscoring Shead 25-8.
Roy led the Pioneers with 13 points. The 8th grader also had five rebounds and two assists. Olivia Ouellette had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Wisdom ends the season with a record of 11-8.
Ryleigh Andrews led the Tigerettes with 11 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Lawrence added eight points (all in the second half). Kiesha Scott recorded seven points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Shead (13-6) will play a semifinal game on Thursday afternoon at 3:30.
