RJ Morin rallies past Kiwanis in Old Town Little League play

OLD TOWN- RJ Morin scored 12 runs over the final three innings on Wednesday evening, rallying past Kiwanis 16-7 in Old Town Little League action at K of C Field. The RJ team has now won four games in a row and have pulled into a first place tie with Kiwanis atop the standings.

Kiwanis (4-2) started off solidly. They took advantage of leadoff hits from Hayden Summerlin and Jake McCannell and two errors to take a 4-0 lead after one inning. RJ Morin (4-2) tightened things in the second putting a three spot on the board helped by four walks, two errors, and a hit to cut it to 4-3. The game was tied up in the third when Aidan Sucy had a solid single to center, advanced to second on an error on the play, and then scored on a passed ball and wild pitch. Kiwanis jumped back on top in the bottom of the third, as Donovan Davis has a double and scored a run as did Carter Osnoe to make it 6-4. From that point it was all RJ Morin. In the fourth they took a lead they wouldn’t give back, helped by three walks, two errors, and two hits including an RBI single from Ben King for an 8-6 lead. They padded that in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth they got three on three hits and three more errors, and then RBI hits from Tommy King, Carter Duque, and Brody Whalen led to five more runs in the sixth to make it 16-6. Kiwanis could only muster an unearned run in their last at bat.

B. King picked up the pitching win going 5.0 innings allowing six runs (four earned), seven hits, with no walks and six strikeouts. Brayden Albert pitched the sixth and allowed an unearned run with a walk and one strikeout. Osnoe was tagged with the loss in relief for Kiwanis allowing 10 runs (six earned), 11 hits, with three walks and one strikeout in 2.2 innings. Davis started and he allowed six runs (four earned), three hits, with four walks and seven strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Sucy and T. King had three hits each for RJ Morin, while Whalen, Ben King, and Carter Duque had two each. Osnoe and Kevin Pina had two each for Kiwanis. Both teams have two games left to play in the eight game regular season. Playoffs start August 17.
