State recommends a further delay to fall sports

September 1, 2020

Last Thursday, the MPA voted unanimously to approve the Sports Medicine Committee recommendations to play fall sports. The wait was on for the response from the state.

This afternoon that response came. In the letter from the state– The Maine Department of Health and Human Services and the Maine Department of Education doesn’t recommend cancellation of fall sports, they do recommend a delay to address the issues in the letter. They would like the MPA to address the policies on face coverings and spacing between spectators. The state also recommends no games for football or volleyball.

The state is recommending a further delay to the September 8th start date.
