Cody Bellinger hit a fourth inning two run homer, Will Smith hit an RBI single in the fifth that turned out to be the game winner, and Clayton Kershaw allowed just one run over 6.0 innings Tuesday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers took Game 1 of the World Series with an 8-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
After the Bellinger homer, the Rays would cut it to 2-1 on a Kevin Kiermaier solo homer in the top of the fifth but Los Angeles put it away scoring four in the bottom half. Bellinger and Max Muncy both had a pair of RBI, while Chris Taylor and Mookie Betts both had two hits each with Betts also adding a solo homerun in the sixth. Kiermaier had two hits to lead Tampa Bay, who is making just their second World Series appearance. Kershaw gave up just two hits and struck out eight to get the win, while Tyler Glasnow took the loss for the Rays giving up six runs, three hits, with six walks and eight strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. Game 2 is Wednesday night at 8:09 p.m. Blake Snell takes to the mound for Tampa Bay, while Los Angeles still hasn’t announced a starter.
