Peyton Grant earns 7th female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 324 past athlete of the week winners.

This week we had four Rowells Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Peyton Grant had 11 goals in helping the Dexter Tigers girls soccer team to a 2-1 week. During a win over MCI, Grant broke the all time girls soccer goals record at Dexter high school. Grant joins Kolleen Bouchard (19) (Houlton), Leine McKechnie (13) (PVHS), Lexi Ireland (9) (PVHS), Taylor Schildroth (9) (George Stevens), Bryce Gilbert (9) (PCHS), Justin Thompson (9) (Schenck), Gage Feeney (7) (Washington Academy), and Karli Theberge-(7) (Hermon) as seven time athlete of the week winners.

  • Peyton Grant – Dexter – soccer – had five goals and one assist in 6-1 win over Greenville. Had two goals in 3-2 loss to Central. Had four goals in 7-1 win over MCI.

Runner up

  • Rylee Speed- Central – soccer- had one goal in 3-2 win over Dexter. Had four goals in 6-0 win over Greenville.

Other nominations

  • Danielle Masterson – Hamdpen – field hockey- had five goals in 5-1 win over John Bapst.
  • Kiana Bennett- Dexter- field hockey- had three goals in 8-0 win over Central.
