The Boston Celtics now ready themselves for the 72 game NBA regular season after dropping a pair of exhibition games this week.
Boston was beaten by the Philadelphia 76ers 108-99 on Tuesday, and then handled easily 113-89 by the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night. Free agent acquisition Jeff Teague led the team on Tuesday with 18 points, while rookie Payton Pritchard had 16. Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Marcus Smart all played limited minutes in both games with Tatum (19) and Brown (16) leading the way on Friday. The Celtics open up the regular season with two home games Wednesday night at 7:30 against Giannis Antetokoumpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, while they face the Nets for real this time on Christmas evening at 5 p.m.
Boston is coming off a 2019-20 season in which they were 48-24 and in the third place in the Eastern Conference when the season was shut down in March due to COVID-19. When the season and playoffs picked up in the bubble in Orlando, Florida they eventually made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals where they fell in six games to the Miami Heat.
