Scott Lewis led four players in double figures with 12 points Saturday afternoon, as the Husson Eagles men’s basketball team moved to 7-0 in their abbreviated season with a 75-58 win over Maine Maritime Academy at Newman Gymnasium in Bangor.
A back and forth tight first half was opened up when Husson went on a 13-0 run. The Eagles led by as much as 20 and held a 42-27 halftime lead. MMA (1-3) got within eight about five minutes into the second half, but never got any closer as the hosts utilized their deep selection of reserves to outscore the Mariners 41-9 in points from the bench.
Lewis added four rebounds and two steals in the win. Cam Wood had 10 points and four rebounds, while both Issac Varney and Justin Thompson added 10 points a piece. Varney also added seven rebounds, two steals, and a block while Thompson had four rebounds and three assists. Cameron Gerlach, Malachi Reincke, and Drew Price had 11 points a piece for the Mariners in the loss, while Riley Jorgenson also had 10 points. The Eagles are scheduled to play at UMaine-Fort Kent next Saturday.
