The Husson baseball team finished a five game sweep over Northern Vermont-Lyndon on Sunday afternoon by taking both ends of doubleheader over the Hornets by scores of 2-1 and 10-2 at Alfond Diamond at the Winkin Complex in Bangor.

In the first game, the Eagles and Hornets exchanged runs in the third and sixth inning. Tyler Parke put Husson up 1-0 with a sacrifice fly, before Jordan Cane tied it for NVU-Lyndon with an RBI single in the sixth. Jackson Curtis won it for the hosts with a two out RBI single in the bottom half of the sixth. Akira Warren had two hits to lead the way for Husson, while Alex Smith (1-0) won in relief of Hunter O’Connor on the hill and Ryan Robb picked up his second save.

In the second game, Husson took a 2-0 lead before NVU-Lyndon tied the game with an RBI double and an RBI single in the fifth inning. The Eagles exploded in the home half of the fifth with eight runs to cap off the sweep. Chris Ewanik had the game winner with an RBI single, and Husson took advantage of some sloppy Hornets defense to score five runs unearned in the inning. Warren had two hits and two RBI, and Austin Snow added two hits. Ryan Penney (1-0) won in relief as the Eagles used seven pitchers in the game two triumph.

Husson has now won 10 games in a row, all in North Atlantic Conference play after being swept in four games by the University of Southern Maine in non-conference to start the season. The 10-4 (10-0 NAC) Eagles will open up a five conference game series with the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Thursday evening with a single game in Presque Isle.
