Husson completes sweep of UMF, extends win streak

The Husson University Eagles made it 12 straight wins on Monday afternoon, finishing off a four game sweep over UMaine-Farmington at O’Keefe Field in Bangor with a pair of 8-0 wins in five innings by mercy rule in North Atlantic Conference softball action.

In game one the Eagles continued their series dominance over the Beavers by breaking the game open with a four run fourth inning. Morgan Coleman had a pair of hits and Kenzie Dore had a two run homerun. Sydney Ames (9-1) went the full 5.0 innings only allowing one hit with no walks and four strikeouts to get the pitching win.

In the second game Husson would once again break the game open with a five run third inning to cruise to another shutout win, outscoring UMaine-Farmington 34-0 in the series. Dore and Madelyn Fowler each had two hits, and Erin Bonenfant added three RBI. Jen Jones (8-0) was superb in the circle allowing just one hit with no walks and 11 strikeouts in 5.0 innings.

Husson improves to 19-1, 12-0 in the North Atlantic Conference. The Eagles have now won eight straight games by mercy rule, with 10 of those on the season and have outscored their opponents 162-28. Next up they will travel to Thomas College to battle the Terriers in a four game conference series with doubleheaders scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday.
