The Portland Sea Dogs, after an opening night 11-2 loss and a Wednesday night rainout, continued their six game series with a pair of seven inning games with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at Hadlock Field in Portland on Thursday night. Portland would end up taking both ends of the two games by scores of 9-6 and 4-3.

Game 1- New Hampshire scored five runs in the top of the first inning for an early advantage, before Portland rallied for three in the fourth and six in the fifth inning to pick up their first win of the 2021 season. Tanner Nishioka had the game winner with a two run single as part of that huge fifth inning. Pedro Castellanos and Joey Meneses each had two hits for the Sea Dogs, and Emmanuel De Jesus (1-0) picked up the pitching win with Jose Adames getting the save. The Fisher Cats were held to four hits, and Curtis Taylor (0-1) took the loss on the hill in relief.

Game 2- The teams exchanged a run each in the first and second inning, before Portland took a 3-1 lead on a pair of wild pitches in the bottom of the third. New Hampshire responded on an RBI single by Kevin Vicuna and a wild pitch to tie it back up in the fourth. The score stayed the same until there was one out in the bottom of the sixth, when Johan Mieses took a 1-0 pitch over the Maine Monster in left field for a solo homerun for the game winner. The Fisher Cats got a two out double by Austin Martin in the seventh, but Sea Dogs reliever Matthew Kent struck out Otto Lopez swinging to end it. Jack Lopez had two hits for Portland, while Kent (1-0) didn’t allow any runs on three hits over the final 3.2 innings to pick up the win. Jon Harris (0-1) took the loss for New Hampshire in his relief role.
