Bangor wins girls and boys track meet at Hampden

Hampden, Bangor, PCHS, Dexter, Ellsworth, and Bangor Christian participated in a track meet at Hampden Academy on Saturday.

Bangor won the team competition in both the girls and boys meet. Hamdpen girls finished as runner up, while the Rams edged out Ellsworth and Hampden in the boys meet.

The Bangor girls finished top two in seven different events. Anna Connors won the girls 100m dash, Connors teammate Naomi Noack was runner up. The Rams had top three in 200m with Alyssa Elliot, Noack, and Julia Smallwood. Connors was the winner of the 400m, with Bangor senior Erin McCarthy winning the 800m, and freshman Katie McCarthy the winner of 1600m.

Hampden teammates Ava Dowling and Christiana Rice were the winners of the 1200m run and 100m hurdles respectively. Maya Elkadi (Bangor) won the 300m hurdles. The Broncos team of Rice, Megan Deans, Lilyann Geiser, and Destiny Mooers won the 4x100m relay.

Bangor won the 4×400 relay with Smallwood, Elkadi, Devon St. Louis, and Connors and the Rams also won the 4×800 with the team of Megan Caron, Sadie Harrow, Anna MacDonald, and Megan Randall.

The following student/athletes also won these events- Geiser (Hamdpen)- high jump, Noack(Bangor)- Pole Vault, Elliot (Bangor)- Long Jump and Triple Jump, Camden Lavoie (Bangor)- Shot Put, Autumn Paul (Ellsworth)- Discus Throw, Emma McNeil (Bangor)- Javelin Throw, and Bridget Frazier (Bangor)- 1600m race walk.

PCHS had another great meet. The girls team finished fourth. Kendall Kimball took third in javelin, with a personal best throw of 79-04. Ariana Fanjoy qualified for PVCs in the 100m, with a personal best time of 14.48 and she took sixth in the 400m, with a time of 1:13.02. Molly Sipple took third in the 100m, with a personal best of 13.58, fourth in the 200m with a time of 29.42, fourth in the 400m with 1:08.96, and fourth in discus with a personal bestthrow of 81-07. She qualified for PVCs and provisionally for States in the 200m, 400m, and discus today. Max Richards had personal best throws in shotput- 23-09.25, discus- 62-06, and javelin- 49-02. On the boys side, Alex Shedd had a personal best in the long jump with 10-11.00.

In the boys meet- Ben Allen (Hampden) was the winner of the 100m and 200m, and runner up in the 400m. Allen’s teammate Abbott Valentine captured the 400m. Bangor placed the top three in the 800m with Daniel McCarthy, Colby Hope, and Jack Patterson. Valentine also won the 3200m, while Gordon Doore (Bangor) won the 1600m.

Ellsworth placed the top three in the 110m hurdles with Henry Scheff the winner. Scheff also won the 300m hurdles. Scheff was also part of the winning 4x100m relay, with Connor Wight, Beck Deeny, and Chase Hardwick. The Rams won the 4x400m and the 4x800m relay.

Bangor Christian had four of the top five in the High Jump with Aaron Bard (Bangor Christian) edging Beck Deeny (Ellsworth). Bard also captured the top spot in the Pole Vault. Deeny was the winner of the Long Jump, Avery Gagnon (Dexter) finished second. Deeny and Gagnon were also the top two in the Triple Jump.

Maxx Smith (Bangor) won the Shot Put and Discus Throw. Smith was the runner up in the Javelin Throw, behind Issac Webber (Dexter). Simon Socolow (Bangor) won the 1600m race walk.
