Sea Dogs extend to eight game win streak

READING, PA- The Portland Sea Dogs got homeruns from Triston Casas, Pedro Castellanos, and Joey Meneses to beat the Reading Fightin’ Phillies 9-3 at First Energy Stadium Tuesday night in the first game of a six game series. Portland (35-23) has now won eight games in a row.

A one out walk in the top of the first by Castellanos was followed by a two-run homer by Casas to left center field, his 5th of the season. Ronaldo Hernandez also added an RBI double and it was 3-0 Sea Dogs early. The Phillies got one back in the bottom half on a Daniel Brito solo homerun, before Castellanos hit a three-run shot in the top of the second and Meneses added a solo homer to make it 7-1 Sea Dogs as they would end up cruising to the victory.

Devlin Granberg and Ryan Fitzgerald had three hits a piece to lead the way, while Hudson Potts and Castellanos had two. Andrew Politi (3-7) got the win on the mound allowing two runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Bryson Stott, Madison Stokes, and Rodolfo Duran each had two hits in the loss for Reading (26-35). Julian Garcia (0-4) was hit hard and tagged with the pitching defeat allowing seven runs (six earned) in 2.0 innings. The Sea Dogs haven’t announced a starter for game two on Wednesday night, while the Phillies go with RHP Victor Santos (1-0, 1.72 ERA).
