Joe Fagnano, the junior quarterback for the University of Maine football team will be out indefinitely due to an injury suffered on Saturday according to head coach Nick Charlton.
Fagnano, suffered a leg injury that is being called a high ankle sprain, late in the first quarter of the Black Bears 55-7 loss to #3 James Madison. Redshirt freshman Derek Robertson will be the QB1 moving forward until Fagnano recovers. Robertson filled in on Satuday and completed 8-22 passes for 88 yards with one touchdown and one interception as Maine fell to 0-2 and 0-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The team has been outscored 89-31 in the first two weeks in the losses to Delaware and JMU.
Maine is back at home on Saturday afternoon to play a non-conference game against Merrimack. The Warriors (2-0) defeated Holy Cross last week, a week after the Crusaders upset FBS opponent Connecticut.
