Ella Hosford earns second female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 346 past athlete of the week winners.

This week we had seven Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Ella Hosford continues putting up big numbers for the Bucksport girls soccer team. The junior ended the week just two goals shy of the school record. It is the second athlete of the week honor for Hosford, she also won on September 15th, 2021.

 

September 27th-October 2nd

  • Ella Hosford- Bucksport- soccer-scored seven goals in 9-0 win over Calais. Had five goals in 12-0 win over Shead. Hosford has 36 goals this season and 61 in her career.

Runner up

  • Rylee Speed- Central- soccer- had three assists in 3-0 win over Orono. Had five goals and one assist in 7-0 win over PCHS. Had two goals in 3-0 win over PVHS.

Other nominations

  • Izzy Allen- Central- soccer – had two goals in 3-0 win over Orono.
  • Reese Danforth- Skowhegan- Soccer.  Had 25 saves in 2-0 loss to Camden Hills. Averages 20 saves per game so far this season.
  • Caitlyn Chabot- Dexter – golf- Qualified  as an individual at JATO Highlands Golf Course with a score of 90 to play at States on Oct 9that Natanis. Her team also came in second as the PVC runner up. Caitlyn was also named the 2021 PVC Female Golf Player of the Year and then named to the All Conference team.
  • Lauryn Brown- Orono- field hockey- has scored three goals and had one assist and helped the Red Riots have a great season.
  • Chloe LaBree- Orono- field hockey- She works very hard on and off field and had some amazing drives. She has continually worked hard all season and against Stearns she had some amazing drives to help set  up the forwards and helped to keep the shots on goal low.
