November 5, 2021

The Foxcroft Academy Ponies scored 40 of their 47 points between the second and third quarters on Friday night, rolling to a Class D quarterfinal football win over the John Bapst Crusaders 47-0 at Oakes Field in Dover Foxcroft.

After a slow start from Foxcroft, they started the scoring when Austin Seavey found Caden Crocker for a two yard touchdown pass with 3:48 left in the first quarter. A series of mistakes by John Bapst (1-7) in the second quarter allowed the Ponies to blow the game open. The Crusaders had six turnovers on the night, including four interceptions with two of those in the second period. The first interception was returned for a short score by Cameron Chase. After a second interception thrown by Bapst quarterback Jordan Kimball, Wyatt Rayfield had a 17 yard touchdown run and Jesse Drury also added a 10 yard scamper to the endzone two minutes later for a 28-0 halftime lead. Drury would add a 26 yard TD run, and Rayfield had a pair of short scoring passes to Crocker in the third quarter to finish the scoring for 9-0 Foxcroft. The Ponies will host either Oak Hill or Lisbon next week in the semifinal round.

Seavey went 5-10 passing for 36 yards and a touchdown, while Rayfield was 5-5 for 38 yards and a pair of scores. Rayfield also added the one carry for 17 yards and a TD.
