The Dexter Tigers boys basketball team come into the 2021/2022 season as the defending regional champions. The Tigers won that championship in the 2019/2020 season. The Tigers also won their pod championship in an abbreviated 2020/2021 season.
“I’m looking forward to a somewhat more “normal” season that ends with what we’ve come to love as a postseason,”Tigers coach Peter Murray said. “I think the Tigers have the potential to be one of the top teams in Class C North this season. Our style of play should be more of the same: defensive minded, patient – team oriented offense. A strength will be our balance and our athleticism. A challenge for us will be developing a bench from a number of inexperienced players.”
The Tigers will have a mixture of seasoned veterans and unproven newcomers who will try to mold themselves into a tournament contender.
Seniors Avery Gagnon and Seth Robbins, along with juniors Will Kusnierz and Bryce Connor, are all returning players who saw significant varsity minutes last season. New contributors this season will be seniors Gage Sinclair, Cameron Allen, and Owen Brown, along with juniors Kayden Kimball, Ben Bourgoin, Caden Brown, and Brady Reynolds. Sophomore Will Spratt will be fighting for playing time as well.
Schedule: Dexter opens the season with road games at Searsport, Mattanawcook, and Penquis, before the home opener against PCHS on December 20th. Eastern Maine Sports Media has three games currently on the schedule- December 28th at Central, January 31st at PCHS, and the regular season finale February 10th at Foxcroft.
