December 11, 2021

The Quinnipiac Bobcats outscored the Maine Black Bears 44-20 in the second half Saturday afternoon, pulling away for a 73-47 non-conference men’s basketball victory at People’s United Center in Hamden, Connecticut.

Maine (2-6) used an 11-0 run just over halfway into the first half and would lead 21-12 on a LeChaun DuHart three-pointer. Quinnipiac used a run of their own of 9-2 to take a slim 29-27 halftime lead. That spurt was extended to 15-2 early in the second half as the Bobcats pushed it out to 35-27. The guests were still within striking distance down 12 with just over 10 minutes left to play, but went ice cold from the floor shooting just 25% from the floor over the final 20 minutes. QU (6-4) ended the game on an 18-4 run as Maine didn’t have a field goal over the last 10:14.

DuHart led Maine in the loss with 11 points. Maks Klanjscek added nine, and Vukasin Masic had seven points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Kevin Marfo led Quinnipiac with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists. The Bobcats shot 53% and hit six three-pointers in the second half alone to help pull away. The Black Bears return home to host Division III University of New England next Saturday at the Pit in Orono.
