Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 361 past athlete of the week winners.
This week we had four Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Izzy Allen averaged 27 points, seven rebounds, and 4.5 assists in leading Central to a pair of wins. She edged Raeanah Reynolds (Washington Academy) and Anna Oliver (Hodgdon) in the voting. Allen is averaging 29.3 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four steals, and one block to help Central start the season 3-1. It is the third athlete of the week honor for Allen.
Female athlete of the week-
December 26th-January 1st
- Izzy Allen- Central- basketball – guard had 30 points, six rebounds, and four assists in a 46-35 win over Dexter. Had 24 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in 49-45 loss to Stearns.
Allen is averaging 29.3 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 5.0 apg, 4.0 spg, and 1.0 bpg in helping Central start the season 3-1.
Runner up
- Raeanah Reynolds -Washington Academy- basketball- had 32 points, including 21 points and 5 three pointer in the fourth quarter in 54-52 win over Mount View. The Raiders were down by 15 in the 4th quarter before Reynolds led the comeback. Reynolds made seven three pointers in the game, including one with 16 seconds left to give the Raiders a 53-52 lead.
Other nominations
- Macey Brown – Deer Isle-Stonington- basketball- Recorded 22 Points, 12 rebounds, six steals, three blocks and two assists in 50-35 win over Jonesport Beals.
- Anna Oliver- Hodgdon – basketball- the freshman had 31 points, six rebounds, five assists and went 10-10 from the free throw line in 78-27 win over Fort Fairfield. Had 32 points and seven rebounds in 72-24 win over East Grand.
