Jayson Tatum had a game high 38 points and added 10 rebounds Sunday afternoon, as the Boston Celtics rallied past the Atlanta Hawks 105-95 at TD Garden in Boston. The Celtics have now won eight games in a row.
Atlanta (26-30) started off strong with a pair of three-pointers on their first two possessions, and didn’t trail until the third quarter. The Hawks led by 15 in the first quarter and 55-45 at halftime. The Celtics went on a 17-6 run to begin the third, and took the lead for good 62-61 on an Al Horford three-pointer with 7:07 left. Boston (33-25) eventually built it to their largest lead of the day 97-84 on a Grant Williams three-pointer with 6:09 remaining in the game, and Atlanta never got closer than six the rest of the way.
Tatum also added three assists, a steal, and two blocks in the win. Jaylen Brown had 17 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Celtics newcomer Derrick White had 14 points and five assists, Marcus Smart had 13 points, six rebounds, and seven assists, and Robert Williams III also had a double double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Trae Young had 30 points and 10 assists, and Bogdan Bogdanovic had 26 in the loss for Atlanta. Boston will travel to Philadelphia to battle the 76ers on Tuesday night.
