BANGOR- Kashman Feeney had 20 points and Shane Feeney added 18 on Monday night, as the top seeded and unbeaten Machias Bulldogs rolled to an 85-40 Class D North boys quarterfinal basketball win over the Jonesport-Beals Royals at the Cross Insurance Center.
Machias (16-0), who is the defending Northern Maine Champion, broke out to a 9-0 lead early and took a 15 point first quarter lead which was 26-14 at the end of eight minutes. Shane Feeney (8), Jayden Rhodes (7), and Ethan Foss (6) provided 21 of those points. The Bulldogs outscored Jonesport-Beals 20-9 in the second to built a 23 point halftime lead, and they never let the Royals get closer than that. 46 was the largest lead in the fourth quarter, setting up a Machias vs. Wisdom semifinal matchup on Thursday.
Kashman Feeney added seven rebounds to his team high point total, while Shane Feeney added four more boards. Machias out rebounded Jonesport-Beals 30-15. Kyle Anderson also got into double figures for the Bulldogs with 13 points and six rebounds, as did Foss with 11 points. Rhodes finished with nine. Damon Beal had a game high 23 points and six rebounds for the #8 Royals, as they finish their season at 9-11. Machias shot 9-15 from the foul line, while Jonesport-Beals went 4-6.
