PVHS turns up the defense in girls basketball semifinal win over Dexter

BAMGOR- Ellie Austin and Kaya Loring combined to score 21 points to lead the PVHS Howlers to a 28–15 win over Dexter in a Class C girls basketball semifinal game played Saturday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.

The Tigers scored the first two points of the game. That would be the only lead of the game for Dexter. PVHS would score the next five points and held a 9-4 lead after the first quarter.

Mia Neal scored the only field goal in the second quarter and the Howlers had a 13-6 lead at intermission. The teams only scored four points each in the third quarter.

The Howlers secured the win by going 7-10 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Austin had 12 points and three steals to lead PVHS. Kaya Loring added nine points, four assists, and two steals. Holly Loring contributed four points, four rebounds, and three steals. PVHS (17-3) will be in the regional championship game on Monday night against Stearns at 6 PM.

Elizabeth Kinney had seven points to lead the Tigers. Hannah Dean had four points and nine rebounds, while Jozlynn Paige had four points and four steals. Dexter finishes the season with a 12-7 record.
