BANGOR- Alisyn Alley had a game high 19 points, while Makayla Anderson and Kelly Farber also scored in double figures on Saturday evening as the Stearns Minutemen took down the Hodgdon Hawks 50-35 in a Class C girls North semifinal game at the Cross Insurance Center.
Stearns would never trail, getting out to an early 10-2 lead. The Minutemen led 14-10 after one quarter, and pushed it back to a nine point lead twice in the second led by seven points in the period from Alley. Stearns led 26-19 at halftime. Hodgdon got within five twice in the third quarter on baskets from Anna Oliver and Monique Polchies, before the Minutemen used a 13-4 run to stretch it to 41-27 headed to the fourth. The lead would go to as many as 19 on a three-pointer by Alley, as #1 Stearns moves on to the regional final on Monday night.
Alley added five rebounds and three steals to her point total. Anderson and Farber both had 11 points, with Farber also contributing 10 rebounds. Kasey Kenyon also would chip in nine points and seven rebounds. Stearns outrebounded Hodgdon 30-21. Oliver had 16 points, four rebounds, and two assists in the loss for the Hawks who end their season with a record of 16-4. Polchies finished with nine points. Stearns (15-3) will play PVHS at the Cross Insurance Center Monday night at 6 p.m. for the North regional title.
