The Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) Pirates softball team will look to their seniors to be team leaders for the 2022 squad led by head coach Sarah Tracy and assistant coach Tim Richardson.
“As coaches we expect this team to compete for every play this year. We expect the senior class to step up and lead the team,”Tracy said. “Our strengths this year will be senior pitchers Kenzie Kane and Aliyah Ouellette working hard for the team bringing versatility all around the plate as well rounded players. Seniors Hailee Hartford and Grace Buehne will be strong senior leaders as they patrol and control the outfield. Martina Hill who brings a ruthless presence to shortstop, also is a senior leader.”
The Pirates also have a strong returning junior class. They will be hoping to improve each game and be playing their best late in the season.
“We bring with us strong juniors as well. Abby Ricker who ties it down as a solid third basemen. Brylee Ricker is a key player as a powerful center fielder. Gracie Talbots versatility and grit behind the plate and offensively. Sam Goodwin brings with her a mighty presence at first base. Junior Katelyn White a vital utility player for this years team. Another junior Lauren Robinson our keeper of the gate and the anchor behind the plate. Newcomers Senior Shania Milano and Freshman Rylee White-Chabot are working hard with their team mates,” Tracy said. “As a team we have things to work on but we are getting stronger as we move forward in the season. Good luck to all teams this year, to our seniors don’t forget to stop and enjoy it, lets have some fun.”
PCHS is scheduled to open the season with home games against Dexter on April 20th and Stearns on April 22nd.
