At Howland, Holly Loring and Ellie Austin combined for a total of five goals and four assists, as PVHS defeated Greenville Tuesday 7-0.
Austin got the scoring started less than eight minutes into the game on what would be a common connection, as she finished a cross from Loring. Loring would get a goal of her own later on, receiving Emma Potter’s cross and kicking past keeper Lexi Bjork. Just 55 seconds later, the Loring to Austin combo struck again as Austin was able to score off a Loring assist. 90 seconds after that, Potter kicked a corner that came back to her feet after being headed out by a defender. She calmly lofted it back toward the middle, finding the opposite corner of the net over the goalies head. Finally, with just over two minutes to go before the half Loring found an open Austin for the third time resulting in a goal.
In the second half, Lila Cummings received a pass from Rylee Moulton at the top of the goalie box, and blasted a shot that went off the inside part of the left post and into the goal. The final goal was similar in fashion, but this time it was Austin passing to Loring at the 18 yard line and Loring drilled a shot into the upper ninety of the net.
PVHS goalkeeper Lauryn Smart and the Howler defense secured their 5th shutout in a row, as they prevented the Lakers from taking a shot on goal. Bjork saved 14 of 41 shots for Greenville.
The Howlers improve to 6-0, and will travel to face one of the top teams in Class C the Central Red Devils on Thursday. Greenville drops to 3-5-1 and will visit Bangor Christian on the same day.
