October 15, 2022

The Penquis Patriots scored three second half goals to earn a 3-2 girls soccer win over Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) in muddy conditions at Milo on Saturday morning.

The first half went scoreless with some impressive defensive efforts from both teams. The scoring opened up early in the second half with a foul called against Penquis inside of the 18, earning PCHS a penalty kick. Kendall Kimball put it in the back of the net with 37 minutes left in the game.

Penquis answered that goal five minutes later with a beautiful through ball from Sky Guzy to Jessica Broussard for a goal from the six to put Penquis on the board. Penquis then took the lead four minutes after that with Abbie Conlogue sinking a shot unassisted 15 yards away from the goal. Penquis capped off their scoring with just over four minutes to go in the contest with a deep cross on the right side from Jessica Broussard to Addison Conklin who finished the ball into the net from the six yard line to give the Patriots a 3-1 lead. The Pirates did not give up and scored their final goal with a minute left on the clock. Molly Sipple scored unassisted from the six. Penquis keeper Brooklyn Decker recorded six saves on nine shots and PCHS keeper Bella Buehne recorded 11 saves on 19 shots. Penquis ends their season with a 4-5-5 record and PCHS falls to 6-6-1. The Pirates play their last game of the season on Tuesday when they host Central. That game can be seen on Eastern Maine Sports Media at 5:45 PM. Penquis looks to have cinched a home preliminary game with an opponent and date TBA.
