September 28, 2016

GUILFORD–Erin Speed scored three goals to lead the Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) Pirates to a 3-1 victory over Dexter on Wednesday afternoon.

It took almost 50 minutes for Speed and the Pirates to get started. They took a lead they wouldn’t give back when Speed found the back of the net with 30:14 remaining in the second half.

The Pirates made it 2-0 when Speed converted on an assist from Lexi Harris with 24:42 remaining. Harris assisted on all three goals.

Hannah Dorman cut the lead in half when she scored the Tigers lone goal with 20:15 remaining. The Pirates responded quickly as Speed made it a two goal game just one minute later.

The Pirates offense was explosive in the second half. It was the defense, led by goalie Alivia Hunt who kept the game scoreless in the first half. Hunt finished with 12 saves on 25 shots, including seven saves on 15 shots in the first half. PCHS (4-3-1) will travel to Greenville on Friday.

Reaghan Patterson made five saves on 11 shots in goal for the Tigers. Dexter (2-6) will host Foxcroft Academy on Saturday morning. Click here for the full B.L. Grant & Son soccer scoreboard.
