The Boston Bruins seem to be enjoying home ice so far in this 2022-23 NHL season. Nick Foligno scored with 8:52 left in the third period on Thursday night, lifting the B’s to a 3-2 come from behind win over the Winnipeg Jets at TD Garden.
Winnipeg (21-11-1) got off to a good start in trying to become the first road team to win in regulation at TD Garden. The Jets got goals from Mark Scheifele and Jansen Harkins at 1:58 and 7:20 of the first period for a 2-0 lead. Boston began the comeback in the second period. David Pastrnak scored at 12:08, and then 2:52 later Jake Debrusk tied it on the powerplay. The Pastrnak goal was a lucky bounce out in front off the end boards while goaltender Connor Hellebuyck was out of his cage waiting to play the puck behind his net. Pastrnak was able to bounce on the loose puck and fire it in. The winner by Foligno at 11:08 of the third came on assists by Trent Frederic and Charlie Coyle. Coyle kept the puck alive along the left wing boards, and sent a pass into the high slot where Foligno fired it stick side past Hellebuyck. The Bruins are now 18-0-2 at home, with both of those losses coming in a shootout.
Foligno and Pastrnak both had a goal and an assist in the win as Boston improves to 26-4-2. Jeremy Swayman stopped 25 of 27 shots in net. Hellebuyck had 36 saves in the loss for Winnipeg. The Bruins, winners of three straight, begin a three game road trip Friday night in New Jersey against the Devils.
