BANGOR— Elise MacNair recorded a double-double to lead the Old Orchard Beach Seagulls to a 35-24 win over Dexter in the Maine Principals’ Association Class C girls basketball state championship game played Tuesday night at the Cross Insurance Center. It is the first girls basketball state championship ever for Old Orchard Beach High School, in what was also their first ever appearance in a girls final.
MacNair scored all eight of the Lady Seagulls points in the first quarter as they jumped out to a 8-5 lead. She put in seven more in the second quarter as they took a 20-14 advantage at halftime.
OOB put the game away by outscoring Dexter 10-3 in the third quarter. The Gulls’ suffocating defense only allowed 10 points in the second half.
MacNair led the way with 21 points, 11 rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Sarah Davis added nine points, four steals, and three rebounds. Old Orchard finishes the season 19-3 with a gold ball.
Cally Gudroe led the Lady Tigers with seven points, five rebounds, and two steals. Hannah Dean had six points and 10 rebounds, while Abby Corson chipped in with six points. Dexter finishes the season with a record of 20-2.
