Peyton Hale and Margo Carlin each had a goal and an assist Friday afternoon, in leading the #17 Boston College Eagles to a 3-1 non-conference field hockey win over the Maine Black Bears in the teams mutual season opener at the newly renovated Maine Field Hockey Complex in Orono.
Boston College, out of the ACC, had a 12-4 shots attempted margin in the game (6-3 on net), and Hale gave them a 1-0 lead scoring at 5:35 of the first quarter. Carlin added what turned out to be the game winner just over seven minutes later. Mia Garber made it 3-0 BC in the fourth quarter, while Maine got their lone goal of the afternoon by Mallory Mackesy with 30 seconds left to play.
Zoe Furber added an assist on the goal by Mackesy in the loss for Maine. Mallory Drayer played the first half and made two saves in net, and Jayde Temby played in half number two and made one save. Caroline Kelly stopped two of three shots in the victory for Boston College, while Eva Kluskens and Liala Rosenquest chipped in one assist a piece. The Black Bears, who have nine straight home games to begin the season, will welcome in Providence College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
