The Central Maine Community College men’s and women’s soccer teams have had an outstanding fall, and with both winning the Yankee Small College Conference postseason tournament they are headed to the USCAA Division II National Tournament at Montour Junction Sports Complex in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.
The CMCC women’s soccer team (11-4-1) won their first YSCC regular season title and postseason title in school history, and will be making their first national appearance on Friday. The Mustangs have been led by sophomore forward Natalie Tracy (Messalonskee High). Tracy has registered 22 goals and three assists for 47 points. Junior Lakyn Hink (Sacopee Valley) has added 11 goals and five assists for 27 points. In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Emma Knowles (Kents Hill) has started 12 of the 16 games with a 2.47 goals against average and an .850 save percentage with three shutouts. CMCC faces the University of Cincinnati-Claremont in the opening round of pool play on Friday at 6:15 p.m.
The CMCC men’s soccer team (12-2-1) punched their ticket to the National Tournament for a second straight year when they defeated SMCC 4-1 in the YSCC Championship game on November 5. The Mustangs, who are scoring 5.3 goals per game, are led by sophomore forward Ivan Domingues (Hyde High School) who has 26 goals and 11 assists for 63 points. His brother and sophomore Igor Domingues (Lewiston High) has added 35 points with 14 goals and seven assists. Freshmen David Nzuzi (Brunswick High) and Ordi Bimvy have each contributed 21 points. Sophomore goalkeeper Arnaud Nyagasaza (Portland, Maine) has started 10 games and has a 1.08 goals against average and a save percentage of .841. CMCC takes on the loser of Johnson & Wales and Five Towns College in their opener of pool play on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
The men’s and women’s USCAA National Soccer Tournament consists of pool play, broken up into Pool A and Pool B. The two winners of each pool will meet in the National Championship game on Monday. The men’s title game would be at 1 p.m., with the women’s to follow at 5.
