At Corinth, the Central Red Devils hosted the PVHS Lady Howlers in a battle of two of the top teams in Class C North on Friday afternoon. The Howlers came away with a 72-31 victory for their seventh win of the season.
The score doesn’t indicate the resistance put on by a tough Red Devils team as they were only down 12 at halftime thanks to Madison Pinkham hitting 3 three-point shots in the first half. She lead all Central scorers with 11 points. Mary Allen added 10 points.
PVHS opened up the third quarter on an 11-0 run, and built their advantage to 54-25 after three quarters. PVHS sophomore Rylee Moulton lead all scorers with 20 points. Teammates Ellie Austin and Mia Neal were forces in all aspects of the game. Austin finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds, and six steals. Mia Neal had her best night since recovering from knee surgery last year recording 12 points and eight rebounds. She also controlled the Howlers smothering defense adding four steals.
The Central Red Devils play Orono Monday (1/8) at 7:00 pm. PVHS will host PCHS at 5:00 p.m. on the same date.
