BANGOR— The top seeded Southern Aroostook girls basketball team went on a 15-0 run in the first quarter and never looked back in an 81-39 victory over Deer Isle-Stonington in a MPA class D quarterfinal game played on Monday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Lady Warriors held a 19-10 lead after the first quarter as Ally Shields and Cami Shields combined for 15 points. Southern Aroostook put in 24 points in the second quarter behind 15 from Cami Shields and held a 43-25 halftime lead. Southern Aroostook put the game away by outscoring Deer Isle-Stonington 24-4 in the third quarter.
Cami Shields led the way with 36 points, 11 rebounds, eight steals, and three assists. Ally Shields had 14 points, eight assists, and five steals. Emmalee Landry and Libby Shields had 10 points each. Southern Aroostook (18-1) will play Jonesport-Beals in a semifinal game on Thursday at 11:30 AM.
Madelyn Eaton and Rylee Dorr led the Lady Mariners with nine points each. Eaton also has seven rebounds and two assists. Maya Brown finished with eight points and five rebounds. Deer Isle-Stonington finishes the season with a 6-14 record.
