Husson senior running back Elijah Garnett, coming off a very successful 2023 season, has announced over the summer that he is transferring from the Division III Bangor school to play his senior campaign with the Division II Washburn College Ichabods in Topeka, Kansas.
Garnett rushed 197 times for 1,349 yards and 19 touchdowns with the Eagles last fall, also adding one touchdown on six catches for 53 yards. The running back out of Brooklyn, New York ranked in the top 15 in four different rushing categories in all of Division III football during the 2023 season. Garnett was seventh in rushing touchdowns (19), eighth in rush yards per game (134.9), 11th in rush yards per carry (6.85), and 13th in total rushing yards (1,349). He’ll finish his career at Husson with 1,916 yards rushing on 328 carries with 24 total TDs (23 on the ground) in 23 games. Jed Lober, who will be entering his junior season, is the odds on favorite to take over the duties full time at running back. Lober rushed for 343 yards on 59 attempts with seven touchdowns in 2023.
The Ichabods went 2-9 last year, and represent the school out of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).
