The Husson softball team closed out their regular season with a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader on the road at UMaine-Farmington on Saturday. The Eagles swept the two games and finished unbeaten in the league to claim the top spot in the East Division, as they’re going for their seventh straight NAC Championship.
In game one- Bulla McCabe had three hits and four RBI, and Tatyanna Biamby (Gorham) added two hits and had two runs driven in as Husson cruised to a 7-0 victory. Sky Johnson (12-3) fired a two-hit complete game shutout in the circle while walking one and striking out nine.
In game two- Husson trailed for most of the contest, but came through with three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to complete the sweep 6-1. Kiara McLeod (Oxford Hills) had the game winning two-run single in the sixth. Julia Gregiore (Massabesic) had three hits for the Eagles, and Ana Lang (Searsport) improved her pitching record to 7-4 by throwing a complete game giving up one run on six hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts. Jojo Daigneault had two hits for UMaine-Farmington, and Melissa Mayo (Lake Region) fell to 3-7 by taking the loss in the circle allowing three runs on four hits with three walks in 5.1 innings. The Beavers end the regular season with a record of 14-16 and 4-4 in the North Atlantic Conference.
Husson finishes their regular season with a record of 24-10 and 8-0 in the NAC. Since the start of the 2021 season, the Eagles are now 68-1 in conference games (including playoffs). The Eagles have outscored their league opponents this year 72-4 in their eight games. Next up for Husson is the conference tournament that will be hosted by the top seed from the West SUNY Cobleskill. The full schedule is due to be released either Sunday or Monday when all regular season games have been played.
