The University of Maine will be the #4 seed in the upcoming six team America East Baseball Tournament beginning next Wednesday at Mahaney Diamond in Orono.
Maine (20-30, 13-11 America East) had a good chance to finish second in the conference and avoid a single elimination first round matchup, but the Black Bears after winning five straight series stumbled by going 1-5 down the stretch in finishing the regular season being swept at #1 Bryant and dropping two of three at home to Binghamton to end up sliding down to the #4 spot. Maine will face #5 Albany at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the first single elimination game, while the second single elimination contest pits #3 Binghamton and #6 UMBC. Those two winners then advance to the double elimination format beginning on Thursday, as the top two seeds Bryant (defending champions) and NJIT got the first round bye. The full schedule is below-

Tournament winner gets automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Tournament
