Four different Lawrence batters had a run driven in on Monday afternoon, and Michael Hamlin fired a one-hit complete game shutout as the Bulldogs pushed past Oceanside/Vinalhaven 5-0 in a Class B preliminary baseball game played in Fairfield.
The #7 Bulldogs (9-8) got all they needed by scoring three times in the first inning. Cole Quirion led off with a walk, then advanced to third on a single by Hamlin. Jacob Frazee followed with another single that went for a RBI that turned out to be the game winner. Quirion later added a hit and a RBI, and would score two runs for Lawrence. Dawson Moore and Anthony Almeida also contributed one hit and one RBI each. Hamlin only allowed a fourth inning single and one walk in finishing with four strikeouts in his complete game effort. Joseph Gushee-Brown was the only Mariner to reach base twice on an error and a walk. #10 Oceanside ends their season with a record of 7-10. Lawrence will travel to play at #2 Ellsworth in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
