NBA Insider Shams Charania reported a trade on Monday night. The Boston Celtics are sending guard Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trailblazers in exchange for guard Anfernee Simons and two second round draft picks.
Holiday, who signed with Boston from Milwaukee prior to the 2023 season, inked a four-year contract extension with the Celtics in April of 2024. Portland will now pay the remaining three years on that contract, in sending Simons to his new city in the deal along with two future second round picks. In 62 games, Holiday averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists this past season with the C’s and helped win the 18th NBA Title for the club in the 2023-24 campaign. Simons, who is 26 years old, comes over with an expiring contract and is re-signable. Simons averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.7 rebounds with the Blazers in 70 games this past year.
