Bangor shuts out Downeast in Senior League Baseball action

Alex Kearns hit a game winning RBI single in the second inning, while Mathieu Turcotte and Ian Boudreau combined on a four-hit shutout on the mound on Thursday evening as the Bangor Comrades blanked the Downeast Captains 4-0 in Senior Legion Baseball action at Mansfield Stadium.

Preston Karam added two RBI for Bangor, while Turcotte also had a hit and one RBI. Zac Cota contributed two hits. Turcotte went the first 6.0 innings on the hill allowing no runs on three hits with three walks and eight strikeouts. Boudreau went the final frame giving up one hit, a walk, while striking out two. Brody Robertson had two hits for Downeast, who falls to 4-6 on the season. The Captains dropped their second game on Thursday night to Old Town/Orono by a score of 3-2. Bangor (3-5) plays a two game scrimmage vs a 17U Canadian team on Saturday afternoon at Husson University, before returning to regular season play by hosting Capital Area on Monday night. Downeast will host Central Maine for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
