Trenton and Central Maine split Senior Legion Baseball doubleheader

Trenton and Central Maine would split a Senior Legion Baseball doubleheader on Monday evening at Colby College. The Hurricanes took game one 3-2 in comeback fashion, before the Acadians answered to garner the split by taking game two.

In game one- Central Maine rallied from down 2-0, scoring three times in the top of the sixth inning to pick up the victory. Ty Bernier tied it with a one out RBI groundout, and Michael Achorn provided the game winning RBI single. Michael Achorn and Cam Dostie each had two hits to lead the Hurriances. Jayme Wheeler won on the mound allowing two runs on four hits with four walks and four strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Ben Foster converted the 2.0 inning save. Colin Sullivan and Brady Pert each had one hit and one RBI for Trenton.

In game two- Trent Goss had a RBI single that proved to be the game winner in the fifth inning as the Acadians (7-4) gained the doubleheader split. Miles Palmer smacked a two-run triple to give his team some breathing room in the seventh. Jackson Barry (two hits, three RBI), Palmer (three hits, two RBI), and Joey Wellman-Clouse (two RBI) sparked the Trenton offense. Goss also went the first 5.0 innings on the mound to get the victory giving up three runs on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Michael Achorn, Ben Bernier, and Jordan Lewis each drove in a run for Central Maine (4-5).
