Addi Laslie helps Husson women’s soccer pickup a split on season opening weekend

The Husson women’s soccer team split their season opening weekend playing in the Colby-Sawyer Kickoff Classic in New London, New Hampshire.

After a 4-1 loss to Emerson College on Friday, Husson garnered that split by shutting out the tournament host Colby-Sawyer 5-0 on Saturday afternoon. Addi Laslie (Ellsworth High) had the game winner when she scored off an assist from Eilidh Irons in the 10th minute of the match. Laslie scored her second late in the game, and then assisted on an Irons goal in the last five minutes of action. Rylee Speed (Central High) added another off a helper from Hailey Tarbox (Sanford) in the 42nd minute, and Paige Dunn scored unassisted almost 14 minutes into the second half. The Eagles didn’t allow a shot on net, outshooting the Chargers 21-0 (12-0 on goal). Devon St. Louis (Bangor High) also added an assist, and Gabriella Smith (Biddeford) played in net to get the win. Husson plays their home opener when they take on Bates College at Boucher Field in Bangor on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
