Husson puts up nearly 500 yards of offense in pulling away from Framingham State in a football season opener

Husson rolled up 488 yards of total offense on Saturday afternoon, as Max Clark (Bangor High School) and Jed Lober combined for all six touchdowns through the air and on the ground in pulling away for a 40-13 season opening non-conference football win over Framingham State in a game played at Bowditch Field in Framingham, Massachusetts.

The senior captain Lober had a pair of first half touchdowns, both on 2-yard runs. In a tie game late in the second quarter, Clark would connect with transfer wide receiver and former Foxcroft Academy standout Caden Crocker on a 6-yard scoring pass to put Husson up for good 20-13. It was the first collegiate touchdown for the sophomore Crocker. The Eagles would dominate the second half, outscoring the Rams 20-0 in the third period to end the scoring. Lober had a 1-yard TD run, while Clark threw scoring passes of 27 and 19 yards to Imari Montgomery and Cam Holmes respectively.

Clark finished 22-26 passing for 323 yards and three touchdowns. Lober had 111 yards on 26 attempts and three scores. The Eagles were very solid in the receiving core as well, as Montgomery had six catches for 110 yards and one touchdown. Jacob Lenz reeled in eight receptions for 73 yards, while Holmes caught three for 71 yards and a touchdown. Lober added three catches for 44 yards to go along with his rushing total. Crocker, who only had one reception last year while playing mostly defense in five appearances at Franklin Pierce, had two in this game for 34 yards along with the winning TD catch. On defense, Ryan Banister (Gardiner) and Malcolm McKinnon both had six total tackles. James Boyd (Nokomis) had one sack, while JT Wright along with Lopati Stotler each recorded a half sack. Sophomore captain Brayden Trombley also had an interception. Scotty Brown had a touchdown pass to Mathias Fowler, and Ezana Zemene had a rushing score in the loss for Framingham State. Husson is on the road again next Saturday in another non-conference matchup when they face nationally ranked #13 Springfield College for a noontime kickoff.
