Mary Allen had a second half hat trick on Monday afternoon, in leading Bangor Christian to a 3-1 victory over Dexter in an 8-player girls soccer matchup played in Bangor.
The Patriots had the better chances in the opening half, but Tigers goalie Addy Gudroe came up with some big saves to keep the hosts off the board. Dexter would take a 1-0 lead into the break off the foot of Desiree Adams off a nice lead pass into the center of the box by Brookelin Dorman. Adams took two strides and beat BC goalie Addison Tucker inside her right post into the back of the net with 6:41 remaining.
Allen, the Central of East Corinth transfer, then took over early in the second half to lead her Bangor Christian team to the victory. After a Dexter handball in the box, Allen converted on a penalty kick to tie it and then just 33 seconds later would score again with what turned out to be the game winner. She completed her hat trick with 23:48 remaining to end the scoring. All three goals were scored in a span of 3:06. The Patriots improved to 4-0 in the 8-player South Division, while the Tigers in the North fall to 3-1. Dexter is back in action on Wednesday when they play on the road at Penobscot Christian at 4 p.m., while Bangor Christian will host Wisdom on Friday at 3:30.
