Maddie Perkins (Winthrop High) put in two goals Saturday afternoon, as the Husson Field Hockey Team won their first game of the season with a 4-1 win over the University of Southern Maine in non-conference action at Hannaford Field in Gorham.
Averi Baker (Hall-Dale) and Isabel Folsom (Winthrop) also put in a goal each, as the Eagles move to 1-4. Baker also added an assist on ths tally by Folsom. Ella Doucette made 10 saves in net. Bri Townsend (Nokomis) had the lone goal for the Huskies, and Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop) stopped nine shots as USM falls to 3-4. Husson opens up Central Maine Collegiate Field Hockey Conference play when they visit UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday.
